Trout Guys Endorsed Guide Services

Mike Hibbard - Mike specializes in guided fly fishing trips on the Trinity, Lower Sacramento, and Klamath rivers for rainbow trout and steelhead. Mike has been fly fishing these rivers for 20+ years and guiding on them for the past 6. He is a very patient and friendly guide who enjoys sharing his knowledge of these fisheries with customers. It is his goal to give people the best possible experience on the water, and to leave their trip with life long fishing memories.

John Drew:

Shasta Outfitters LLC
is owned by John Drew. At age 8, John was fly fishing the waters of the Trinity River for trout and steelhead and hunting ducks in the rice fields of the Sacramento Valley. His early outdoor interests led him to a B.S. degree in Wildlife Management from UC Berkeley.

During college, he began his career as a biologist by working as a wild pig trapper in the hills of the SF Bay Area. After college, he worked on various projects involving steelhead and coho salmon, the biology and distribution of wild pigs, and using aquatic insects as indicators of water quality.

He then returned to UC Berkeley for a M.S. degree focusing on the role of wild pigs in the ecology of Lyme disease. John’s guiding career was born by working weekends as a wild pig hunting guide to support both himself and his research. He is the author of several scientific papers and has instructed both high school and college-level courses in aquatic ecology, fisheries biology, insect biology, and wildlife ecology.

His love for educating others about the outdoors led to the formation of Shasta Outfitters, a full-time fly fishing, hunting, and birding adventure company. Though John now spends much of his time in the office, he continues to guide all of the various trips offered by Shasta Outfitters.

Bill McBurney, owner of Ambassador Guides & Outfitters, began guiding in 1979.

As Lees Ferry's first licensed guide, he has seen many changes at Lees Ferry & Lake Powell over the years. As a native Arizonan, he still feels this is one of the best states to live in with some great opportunities for fishing. Bill & his wife Judy own and operate their fly shop adjacent to the Lees Ferry Lodge located in Marble Canyon, AZ.

Bill specializes in fly fishing on the river for rainbows as well as spin casting for some great rainbow and brown trout. Because of a love for a saltwater-type fishing adventure, he has been concentrating on Lake Powell stripers & smallmouth using a fly rod over the past several years.

Bill also offers guided spin & bait fishing trips for bass as well.

Overnight camping trips can be arranged on Lake Powell for avid anglers. With the largest boats on the river & lake Bill offers top quality trips. Wheelchair accessibility is available.

For a Journey back in time, join Bill McBurney for a trip on the headwaters of the Grand Canyon or majestic Lake Powell.

Mike Bias:

Fly fishing is one of Mike's greatest passions. He began fly fishing at the age of 12, and has fished with nothing but a fly rod since. Mike spent his childhood catching native brookies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He fished throughout Maine while attending college.

Mike moved out West to attend graduate school and hit fly fishing pay dirt. He lived within casting distance of one of Northern California's great steelhead rivers.

Mike is currently guiding on Northern California's wild trout waters. His guiding for Hyde Outfitters - hydeoutdoors.com is "instructional, client-driven, and service-oriented ."

Mike currently lives in Elk Grove with his family where he's self-employed as a wetland ecologist.
